Center for Women and Children

In October 2015, the Agape House merged with Wheeler Mission Ministries and was renamed the Center for Women & Children – Bloomington (CWC-B). This location provides for the physical, emotional, education, vocational, and spiritual needs of homeless women and women with children. It also provides long-term, case-managed, residential programs to help women live self-sufficient and healthy lives.

Center for Women & Children

Our Emergency Shelter Services for women and women with children is a 30-day program designed to assist women with basic temporal needs, like meals and shelter, while assessing the factors that led them to homelessness. Whether addiction, mental health, medical, occupational, or educational issues, ladies are encouraged to enter our other long-term programs that can help them with recovery, securing safe housing and employment or mental health care.

Wheeler Mission Ministries (Men)

The Mission provides temporary emergency shelter to homeless and/or disadvantaged men. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, showers, clothing, chapel services, case management (with referrals to onsite and offsite social service agencies) are provided. The Jennifer Act – Indiana (court ordered/involuntary treatment)

Most people have a family member or know someone that has been severely and negatively effected due to drugs and alcohol. My daughter, Jennifer M. Reynolds was one of those people – she died January 15, 2009 at the age of 29. She fought drug addiction for 13 years and in the end couldn’t beat it. Most people can’t beat it by their own willpower. I fought on her behalf and tried to intervene and save her life using the current laws. But these laws failed because they are flawed. That is why I drafted  The Jennifer Act. It is a way for the family or loved one to intervene and rescue someone from addiction.

Casey’s Law – Ohio (court ordered/involuntary treatment)

An involuntary treatment act. This act provides a means of intervening with someone who is unable to recognize his or her need for treatment due to their impairment. This law will allow parents, relatives, and/or friends to petition the court for treatment on behalf of the person who is substance abuse impaired. This act was initiated by Charlotte Wethington, Casey’s mom in an attempt to provide an option that could save a life without criminalizing the disease of addiction.
